Private lessons · made to measure

One session, nothing but your own work

In a group, everyone gets their critique. One to one, the whole session starts from your drawing: what you can already do, what is stuck, and the order in which to unstick it.

Who is it for?

Private lessons are not only for advanced students. They are as useful for starting properly as for getting out of a dead end.

  • People who want to move fast on one thing — hands, values, likeness, the block-in
  • People preparing a portfolio or an entrance exam — a programme built around the deadline
  • People who can’t make Tuesday or Wednesday — the time fits around yours
  • People who prefer to work without a group — because some of us get further in quiet

How it works

Every student is different, but the shape is always the same:

  1. I

We look at your work first

Before the first session you send me a few recent drawings — unfinished ones included, unfinished ones especially. They say where you are far better than any description.

  2. II

    We set one clear goal

One only, in a single sentence: build a three-quarter head, hold a range of values, finish a study without hardening it. A vague goal makes for vague sessions.

  3. III

    We work live

I draw in front of you, you draw in front of me, and the critique happens during the work rather than after it. That is what separates a session from a comment.

  4. IV

    You leave with a plan

At the end of each session: what you work on before the next one, with what, and how you will know it is solid.

A single session can be enough to unblock one specific thing. For real progress, a steady rhythm — every couple of weeks, say — gives far better results.

Online or at the studio?

  1. Online — from anywhere, camera on your drawing. Practical, flexible, and enough for most subjects
  2. At the studio in Paris — for work from life, large format, and anything that needs the material seen for real
  3. You can alternate: nothing forces you to choose once and for all

Fee and availability

The fee depends on the format, the length and the rhythm you choose. There is no payment on this site: write to me at info@atelierrealiste.fr describing what you are looking for, and I answer within 24 hours with a clear proposal — length, fee, possible slots.

If private lessons don’t seem the right answer to what you need, I will say so and point you to whichever group session fits.
